The Death Vortex: Jack Kerouac, Francois Truffaut, Shannon Hoon, Fred Berry
October 21, 2012
Well, October 21 is apparently some kind of bizarre death vortex for tortured artists. Among the influential tortured artists who died on this day are beat writer Jack Kerouac, French New Wave filmmaker François Truffaut, nineties alt-rocker Shannon Hoon, and overweight actor Fred Berry. It’s a very eclectic mix, and today we celebrate their accomplishments. So take some time today to hop on the road, take 400 blows, eat a blind melon, and find out what’s happening.

You forgot Elliott Smith.
Oh, man — you’re right. What is up with Oct. 21?
You might want to create a post like this on February 11. Sylvia Plath, Michael Reeves, Whitney Houston, and Harry Martinson all died on that day.
Had no idea. Another vortex. Thanks for the info!
